About This Experience

This Viator listing from Skyteam Teotihuacán holds a 4.9 rating from 1,528 reviews and sells three options. On dates we checked in late October 2026 the balloon flight only cost about $137 per person, flight plus cave breakfast without transport cost about $181, and the all-inclusive option with round-trip transport from Mexico City cost about $211. The listing titles the middle option as a balloon flight without transportation, but its text says it includes the cave breakfast, so read it as the mid-tier.

The morning starts with a coffee break and a look at the inflation process, then a flight over the valley and a traditional toast on landing. The all-inclusive option then adds breakfast in what the listing calls a 100 percent natural cave and a stop at an artisans’ cooperative with an explanation of obsidian and maguey, pigmentation techniques and a tasting of local drinks. The listing gives total duration as 3 to 6 hours and does not list time at the archaeological zone; it says a guide inside the zone can be bought on site.

Choose $137 if you drive and want only the flight. Choose $181 if you are staying near the port and want the breakfast. Choose $211 if you are in Mexico City and want transport. Reviewers are mixed on the cave: one called the breakfast a bit of a tourist trap but said you will be hungry, and another was disappointed not to be taken to the same cave as in the photos, so treat the cave images on any listing as a style guide.

Admission to the archaeological site and tips are not included, and passengers over 100 kg pay MX$35 per extra kilo (under $2). Pickup times and the meeting location arrive by message the day before; the meeting point applies only to the paid transport option. One reviewer reported an early pickup arriving within 5 to 10 minutes of the scheduled time. Weather decides whether the balloon flies and where.

This was my first time doing a hot air balloon ride, and it was absolutely amazing and breathtaking! The hot air ballon ride was an incredible highlight to our time in Mexico City. Our guides were very nice and although the breakfast in a cave is a bit of tourist trap, you will be hungry and it was very entertaining. Absolutely do not pass up this opportunity - the early start and drive time are totally worth it.
